On the 11th of March, the director of the Archives of Vojvodina Dr. Nebojša Kuzmanović signed a cooperation agreement between the Archives of Vojvodina and Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center. On behalf of Yad Vashem, the agreement was previously signed by Mr. Avner Shalev, chairman of the Yad Vashem Directorate. The aim of the cooperation is to advance the research pertaining to the fate of the Jews before, during and after the World War Two, in particular the fate of the Jews of Vojvodina during the Holocaust. In that sense, special attention will be given to digitization and exchange of copies of archival records, in order to enrich the existing collections of both institutions.
Cooperation between the Archives of Vojvodina and Yad Vashem was initiated after the first seminar for archivists and librarians from Serbia, which took place from 4-11 December 2017, at Yad Vashem, and to which the organization Terraforming Network greatly contributed. Mutual relations were strengthened after a visit by Yad Vashem representatives to the Archives of Vojvodina on 21st February 2018, and a visit by Director Kuzmanović to Jerusalem from 18-21 November 2019. This finally resulted in signing of the formal cooperation agreement.
