The decision by Pope Francis, to open the Vatican Archives from the time of Pope Pius the XII, gave hope that the solution for the dilemma, of whether or not Pope Pius XII kept quiet about the Holocaust, would be solved, as members of the Jewish ethnic group like to point out. For Serbs however, it’s important whether or not Pope Pius XII knew about the atrocities committed in Jasenovac and what was his relation towards the Independent State of Croatia and Cardinal Alozije Stepinac.
In the show ”Svet sa Sputnjikom” (The World with Sputnjik), the questions relating to this topic were addressed by the Serbian writer and politician Dr. Vladeta Janković who, as the Ambassador for Yugoslavia and Serbia, represented our country in Great Britain and the Vatican and Dr. Milan Koljanin, research associate at the Institute of Contemporary History.
The Director of the Archives of Vojvodina Dr. Nebojša Kuzmanović phoned in from Novi Sad.
The show is lead by Tatjana Trikić, and will be broadcasted on Radio Novosti, on 104,7 Mhz, on Wendesday the 13th of March 2019. You can also view it on Sputnjik’s official page on facebook and Radio Novosti, or you can tune in later on the Sputnjik Serbia channel on Youtube.
