The unique information system for digitization, management and protection of archival holdings (ARHIS), in whose development the experts, at the Archive of Serbia, have been diligently working on, was presented today at the Ministry of Culture and Information to the representatives of archives in Serbia. Dejan Masliković, Assistant Minister of Culture for Development of Digital Infrastructure in the Fields of Culture and Art, spoke to the attendees, while the presentation was held by Dr. Ljubinka Škodrić, archival consultant.
In 2019, the ARHIS information system will be implemented in all the archives in Serbia and will comprise an essential part of the employees duties within the archives. The information system is a technical-technological system for management of documents, that is adapted to the standards and recommendations of specialized international organizations, that enables responsible, efficient and systematic control when creating, receiving, registering, archiving, storing and usaging documents, in an unlimited time period. During the presentation, that was held in at the Ministry of Culture, certain subsystems for arrangement and processing archival holdings, acquiring and housing, library work, conservation and digitization, were presented. The introduction of new subsystems was announced to take place in the following period, and its introduction will complete all archival functions.
The project was completed successfully and the information system was very highly rated by the Government and the Ministry of Culture and Information. The creation of a unique software solution is the result the Government‘s main goals being accomplished, the goals that deal with digitization and the formation of eGovernment. These assignments are established by the Instructions for Specific Conditions for the Digitization of Cultural Heritage (Pravilnik o bližim uslovima za digitalizaciju kulturnog nasleđa) and are in line with the Draft Bill for Archival Function and Archival Holdings (Nacrt zakona o arhivskoj delatnosti i arhivskoj građi).
